These are triple flanged hoops – with a twist. Instead of the top edge of the hoop
turning outwards like standard hoops, S-Hoops turn inwards towards the drum head.
This allegedly makes the hoop more rigid and creates the effect of a die cast hoop,
but without the added stress.
